Paint Shop Photo Album 5.2 Release Notes

The following items were added or addressed in Paint Shop Photo Album 5.2:

New Features

• Added Collections feature that allows you to create virtual groupings of photos from anywhere on your computer, without having to make physical copies of your files or create keywords. You can create collections of photos that you want to print, put into a slide show, or show-off in a book, or simply a collection of your favorite shots. See the Help file for a full description of how to use this new feature.


• Added the ability to save Photo Album projects like calendars, album pages and greeting cards as either JPG or PDF files. By saving your project as a JPG or PDF file, you can easily share your creations with family and friends via email, or even create a TV slide show with your scrapbook album pages

VCD/QuickCD

• Addressed issue that caused PSP image files to be copied to a CD via QuickCD, but not play back.


• Added warning that canceling during a burn session will result in a useless CD "coaster".


• Addressed issue that caused a soundtrack to not be copied to a slideshow when using a QuickCD source other than a single folder (e.g. search result, calendar view, etc).


• Addressed issue where custom order of photos was not preserved when creating a QuickCD


• Addressed a VCD issue where burning an image with a very long file name could cause the application to crash.


• Eliminated crash if a root directory path was entered as source for VCD background image

Slide Show:

• Addressed incorrect synchronization of soundtracks to the length of a slideshow.


• Addressed issue that caused soundtracks not to play unless the Slideshow Options dialog was open

Performance:

• Improved startup time for initial and subsequent application launches.


• Improved the performance of thumbnail displays during startup and general usage


• Addressed incremental performance issue when working with timeline view of photos.

Batch Processing:

• Fixed issue when batch rotating images in Organize tab


• Addressed issue where Batch Rename did not preserve a trailing space in the new file name.


• Addressed issue that caused some images to not be renamed when batch renaming over a network drive.


• Addressed issue that could cause a program crash when browsing a folder with JPEG files saved after resizing multiple images.

User Interface:

• Addressed display issue with using Advanced Red Eye on a system with Large Fonts.


• Addressed issue with displaying dates on a calendar when Large Fonts are enabled.


• Addressed issue that caused layout templates not to be updated when changing paper sizes.


• Addressed issue with the "Get" icon in Camera Window opening the wrong dialog box.


• Addressed issue where the small icons for Photo Options and Text Options were switched

Miscellaneous:
• Improved support for EXIF metadata created by EXIFUtils program.


• Addressed issue that caused a dialog loop to be created with reopening an unsaved edited image.


• Addressed an issue with the Get Started Guide that caused the "Last viewed" item to not be viewed.


• Eliminated error message that occurred when the program attempted to catalog two CD drives and one did not have a CD present.


• Addressed OLE issue that could cause a crash when double-clicking image data pasted into WordPad.


• Addressed issue that caused program to crash after "Select All" on an image then try to launch "Adjust Wizard".


• Addressed image corruption of a 8-bit grayscale JPEG after applying JPEG Lossless Rotation.


• Addressed issue that caused incorrect resizing of image if pixel dimensions and the same aspect ratio as original image were used.


• Addressed an issue where redownloading photos from a camera via WIA could cause the program to crash or freeze.


• Addressed issue that caused the program to crash when publishing a project as a PDF file.
